Sure, but unless the emulator bypasses the Newton OS in some way, the
eMate might still be too slow. The Newton OS is a /huge/ overhead on
this model (as it is on the 1xx series). I'm not a techie though, so I
might be wrong here. But if Paul says so, I tend to believe him.


So, rather than being relatively passive after starting an app, the
Newton OS is constantly eating processor resources in the background?

If it consumes more than 25% of the processor while a *non-OS-using*
application is running, that is a *fiercely* intrusive OS!



Don't know much about the technical aspects. Paul Guyot might tell us
more about this.

Are you positively sure Two in Hands doesn't use the OS at all (if only
for rendering stuff etc...) ?


Of course there would be calls to get key(pen?)strokes, update the
screen, etc., but that should be trivial compared to the cycles
spent emulating.

Let me put that differently:  if managing user input and output
requires more than a small fraction of the Newton's processor power,
then it died a well-deserved death.
