hardware)

Don't forget Don Lancaster, who did it on his own. ;-)

BTW, about what he says in this article about getting
double-high-resolution by swapping hgr softswitches at every vsync:

He takes care to shift the pixels via the eighth bit setting, but, in
addition, wouldn't the pixel timing need to be half what it is ? I mean,
won't the pixels in fact overlap (instead of interleave) as they last
too long (twice as much) for double hi-res ?

It is true that the pixels overlap, but the effect is still quite
good. Many (limited bandwidth) monitors display an isolated pixel
not as a flat-topped pulse in intensity, but as a gaussian-like pulse,
with a narrower high-intensity top, so results are better than you
might expect.

Also, "the incompatible peripherals" surely must be those whose data-bus
load drains the "floating-now-standing-on-his-own-capacitance" data bus
charge in less than 500nSec.. ?

Yes, a card that loads the data bus would shorten the time constant.
But such loading would also be a no-no. ;-)
