I think someone ( Mountain Hardware?) made something like this in the past. I think it had 7 slots but cable length may be a problem though.
I seem to recall seeing adds.It's a little like my expansion chassis for my Laser 128. It holds 2 cards and has its own power supply. It doesn't need to decode anything because it simply extends the bus and allows for internally unused slots to be present.
