Hi,
I've been resurrecting my old Apple II for a project I have going.
Today the Disk II stopped responding to the PR#6 command. No lights,
nothing. It happened was after swapping out a disk that had been in the
drive for years to a different one. With the first disk, it booted and
worked fine. Then I swapped it out for a second. When I typed CATALOG,
I got in return a Hardware Error. Hasn't so much as lite a LED since.
Here is the sequence
1) boot up with disk that had been sitting in drive for years
2) ran a few programs
3) removed disk
4) replaced with another one
5) typed catalog
6) Apple attempts to access disk and returns Hardware Error
7) the drive hasn't worked since then, nothing happens. Reseating
card/power cycling/typical debug stuff accomplishes nothing.
if necessary, I am very capable of making HW repairs, just need some
pointers on where to start.
Regards,
