Re: WaZaBoo! May be down for a while

there is a trick (and or it is now included) on getting the latest sbbs
3.11L to work with a modem..get on alt.bbs.synchronet and ask around..it may
involve just running the smaller sbbs 2.0 as a modem capable door program
(he has fossil 32 driver setup so you can run old door programs on 98/me/xp
or whatever ..even if orig you could only run them on dos 6.22 stuff)

anyway thats all i remember on that

also just got the boycott bbs program he had to put his boycott bbs on the
net the link is
http://fire.prohosting.com/tolsen64/

thats pretty cool...

last point ..what i would do is get a (or use) my $22 buck a month low end
dialup 56k modem connection to whomever dialup ISP internet provider in
your area....get sbbs 3.11L ..ask on newsrgroup alt.bbs.synchronet all these
pesky little guestions on setup...get 3.11L up with the mods/tweaks or trick
needed to get modems on using sbbs 2.0 with modem program...once that is
done take and run the sbbs 3.11L program and check out the www.synchro.net
www page ..scroll down he tells you how to setup and ID on his main system
to allow you to have a dynamic IP address via his system so your bbs shows
up on the internet and is stable...5min task

then when you run sbbs 3.11L with your sbbs 2.0 up with modems..the bbs
configures itself thru the old dialup program 56k to the local ISP..the
modem comes up and while the system (yours) is running merrily along they
could also hit thru your qwk id number on the sbbs main system ...mine (for
testing purposes it is never up but for 5 min) is gonzo ..so they would hit
via telnet to me by using gonzo.synchro.net..and again it is free

its ugly..but if you don't have a static ip..and do have a dialout and want
local modem access..something along the above lines will work

if you have something completely ancient like metal/fv 4.0xev (1986) or
applenet dos 3.3 (1983) or tpro RPG 4.2f (modified) bbs pkg (1988) ..they
were all made when the www was a gleam in the progammers eye ..if you want
them to run easily to get on the inet (again these systems only 1 person at
a time can get on per apple //)
then get the boycott bbs pkg to put them up via a port via windows at

http://fire.prohosting.com/tolsen64/

anyway ..thats all i know off the top of my head..(which an't much)
