Would it be reasonable to 'switch the desktop into 80 column mode' temporarily
(e.g., while web browsing or something)?


BTW, it occurs to me, I think you can do the flicker trick with one char. set
and use horizontal scroll registers, rather than a second, shifted char. set
(saving 1024 bytes! Wooh!)
