CP/M programs will run on MP/M and TurboDOS which are multitasking and
multi-user operating systems, MP/M first being available in 1978.

Emulators may run on DOS, Windows and Unix/Linux.

CP/M-86 programs will run on Concurrent-CP/M-86, Concurrent-DOS,
DR-Multiuser-DOS, System Manager and Real/32. These are a series of
pre-emptive mult-tasking, multiuser operating systems starting in 1981 and
still being developed as Real/32.

CP/M-86 may be run under DOSEMU on Linux.

A program written for CP/M-86 can run on a multi-tasking system and need
not 'lock out' anything.

Compared to DRI operating systems it took Microsoft 15 years to drag itself
out of the 'stoneage' and come up with a pre-emptive multitasking OS.
