Personally, I've found that writing programs even today, I spend about
20% of my time writing the actual functionality of the program and 80%
working on user interface stuff. This is true both for my Apple IIgs
programming projects and the Windows stuff I am currently employed to
write.
Mind you, if I had some better RAD tools, that ratio would get better
but it would take quite the tool to get it to the point where I spend
less time on user interface code than on the code that actually does
something useful.
