Looks like you are hitting several of the usual getting Sys 6.01 snags
at once.
There are a few reasons System 6.01 might not load on a ROM-01 with 2MB.
One is that the installation is too large for available memory. Another is
that the installation is intended for ROM 3 only and omits the ROM-01 patch
files.
Regarding stuff you download to a Mac: current Mac ProDOS is not fully
compatible with Apple II ProDOS (it messes up files by adding resource
forks). And, besides, it's iffy whether a Mac 3.5" drive will write a
diskette you can read on a IIgs.
Really, an Apple IIgs owner is much better off using a PC for downloads
and transfers.
Anyway, the seller screwed up. Assuming you have a ROM 3 was dumb. By
far, most currently running IIgs's are ROM-01 machines. If System does not
boot because the ROM-01 patch files were not included (on a 170MB drive),
that was really dumb.
Suggest you call the seller-- if it's Alltech, ask for Tony Diaz.
Explain the situation and ask for diskettes to install System 6.0.1.
If you get no help from the seller, email me and I'll send you System
stuff, etc. for the cost of diskettes and mailing.
