I know what you mean.  I don't get my money orders from a bank,
though.  As I don't use them often, I buy mine at the post office and
in my limited experience, it doesn't cost very much to get one,
international or not.

Whenever I'm selling something, the methods of payment I accept, in
order of preference, is money order, cheque or cash.  Once I get my
e-mail client finished, I will be adding credit cards through the Kagi
service as well.  However, at present, I prefer money orders as they
are secure and get cashed immediately.  Cheque's, depending on what
country they are coming from, can take up to 30 days to clear so I try
to avoid them.  Cash is also good but it is at the bottom of my list
because it isn't secure.  If someone is sending me cash, I usually
urge them to send it via registered mail.
