I would be prepared to wager that an Apple //c memory expansion card could be
made to work in a //c+ with a change to the firmware. Has anyone tried the
//c mem expansion card in a //c+? If it works at 1MHz and fails at 4MHz
(despite the fact that only the CPU runs faster and not the rest of the //c+),
I predict that code that reads/writes bytes from/to the card is too optimal
and when accelerated results in back to back reads/writes which the gate
array chip was not designed to handle. This is based on my reading of the
code in the Apple // Memory Expansion card technical manual.
Unfortuately I cannot test this theory as I only have the memory card and no
//c+. I could try my //e memory expansion card on a Zip-8MHz //e. Does the
//c+ accellerator work like a Zip chip?
