Which AE board do you have?  Some AE boards weren't compatible with the ROM3
which you seem to indicate you have.
Two of the symptoms of an incompatible card can be getting a system error $0201

while loading system software and oddball control panel RAM size. Makes me
wonder
since unless your memory card has a daughter card clipped onto the side of it
there's no
such thing as an AE 6.5mb card.
