He would have won a lot more respect and credibility if he had recieved permission
for posting material that wasn't his original composition. I can't say that I'm thrilled
that he took someone elses report and took credit for it, if indeed that is what
he has done.

I have no problem with efforts to promote any Apple II related event, but
with anything else permission to use other's work should be verified and credited.

Apparently it isn't as obvious as you presumed, otherwise the original author of
the article would not have been so upset. When other's work is used without
permission, he or she can be misrepresented as well. That's why such a simple
request for permission can be also important.
I'm not trying to flame anyone nor is it my intention to promote ill will towards
anyone. My question now is what's so bad about being polite curteous?
Does the ends justify the means? Is it just because that the Apple II isn't
supported on a commercial scale anymore mean we can abandon all ethics,
courtesy and respect, just so we can promote ourselves?
If that's what our world has come to I have no interest in participating in it.
