For old "dinosaurs" like me, who never really used ProDOS (I could never
see the need for subdirectories on a 140K floppy), there was a program
named CPMXFER, distributed with Microsoft's SoftCard, which enabled
you to transfer CP/M files to DOS disks.
 
I went the CP/M route instead -- therefore I got a decent transfer
program implemented for Apple CP/M  (Kermit-80 v4).  I never ever
had half as decent a program running on DOS.
 
Once I even wrote a program (in Turbo Pascal for CP/M) which allowed
transfer of Apple Pascal files directly to CP/M, without the need to use
DOS or ProDOS somewhere in between.
