Comparing anyone to Commodore is not doing them a favor. The only
department with more intelligence than a head of cabbage is
engineering. IBM still supports the XT/AT in that you have a clear
upgrade path to faster machines on which all your software and most of
your hardware will still run. PCjr owners are out of luck, but that
wasn't a very successful machine.
