Re: Apple II still alive?

   I don't mean to start a flame war or anythin, but the 'life expectancy' of a
   Mac is not numbered in months. Just because a machine is not produced anymore
   does not mean it is disfunctional (i.e. the Apple II). The SE/30 and the IIci
   still runs the latest System software, both of which I have in my room right
   now.


Ahh, but what about the next system software release? If the company itself
says "We are not making anymore SE/30's, etc" do you think software 
developers will bother maintaining compatibility and the like with
older computers? I dont think it is a problem for the IIci right now,
or even the SE/30, but it will be soon.

REgardless, I still think it is absurd to release a new computer every
other month or so and take an older one off the market at the same time.
Apple is not going to win any environmental awards promoting disposable
computers.
