Thought as much. It would be okay for my adaptor card but not for a real
drive, and I'd still like to be able to use both.

I'm getting a constant +5v on /WREQ. This is because there was a short on
the adaptor that connected it to -12v. The rest of the IC and board still
seems to function fine, it's just /WREQ stays high. I tested it with both a
real drive and my adaptor.

You mean a resistor on the analog card right?
It wouldn't be that. The fault is the same with two drives and my board.
Good idea though. It didn't occur to me.
I wonder if there's an '06 or '05 I can borrow from the clone.
