Dear Joe!

Thank you all for feedback on my inquiry concerning  international character
support.

I tried out option-key combinations with the following settings in the
'Control Panel' --> 'General'  tab:

Monitor:  Danish
Keyboard: Danish
Translation:  Standard
Alphabetize DAs:  On

Toggling around with the 'Option Key'  (Alt Key on the 'Extended II'
keyboard'  resultated in finding the necessary characters, like the nordic
specific three additional characters:

"ae" sound:   "�"  or  "�"
"oe" sound:  "�"   or  "�"
"oo" sound:  "�"

(Bracketed characters may not show-up correctly on your systems.)  This
opens up the potential of generating the characters when using the IIGS for
writing in local language, though the applications for it would be limited
since this is only attained with using the 'Option' key combinations.  When
selecting other language-settings for 'Monitor' and 'Keyboard' options this
did not seem to affect the character-arrangement in Sys 6.01,  only when
using the 8-bit text modes!

I tried also to use the SAM-mailer to send test mails with text containing
the special letters. The test mails were received the on a regular Win9x
system with 'Outlook Express' POP-client.  The 'High ASCII' option where
checked in the SAM-setup.

The received text was reproduced with wrong characters on the places where
the special characters were intended.

So the conclusion from this would be that the language characters may be
generated correctly on the IIGS-systems, but will not translate correctly
when sendt by internet emial.
