CD ROM drive on //gs

Hello, all:

    Last week, I ordered the DCS018S Apple SCSI CD-ROM drive from Alltech
which I intend on using with an Apple 2gs. It's a Matsushita Apple 600i OEM
drive.

    I've been told previously that a CD should work out of the box with the
gs, but I'm not sure if mine does or not. I have System 6.0.1 running on a
ROM3 gs. The CD is at ID=6. The System folder has the Apple CD driver in it,
but the CD control applet complains that it can't locate an Apple CD drive.

    Any clues?? What should I check for?
