I guess I lost you in all the cross-examining.
In the original VAMPS README, Dr. Tom said he had remixed the MODs.
But, the MODs were bit for bit identical to files on Amiga archives.
Whether or not there just happened to be special processing in those
MODs, we did catch Tom overhyping his early VAMPS offerings.
Hmm. Why are you going out of your way to establish that this issue is my
word against Dr. Tom's, so that it "obviously" proves Dr. Tom is right?
Have you ever compared "ambisonic" MODs with normal versions of the same
MODs? Do you even understand enough about spatialized audio (this is what
the virtual reality people are calling it now) to tell the difference
between a normal MOD and one that has been specifically processed?
Here are some examples of using standard MOD samples and replicated tracks
within NoiseTracker and SoundSmith to produce very simple spatialized audio.

ftp://apple2.caltech.edu/Zocalo/pub/apple2/music/soundsmith/axelfht.shk
ftp://apple2.caltech.edu/Zocalo/pub/apple2/music/soundsmith/spaceharrier.shk
They are pretty sucky by today's standards, but when NoiseTracker was first
available we had no idea where to find the best instrument files, so I just
cannibalized from what we had available at the time. And I had a lot of fun.
To get the effects that Dr. Tom was claiming in his readme, his MODs would
have had to be remixed, with carefully planned effects added in. We did
establish that this had not been done by Dr. Tom. Please note that I am not
attempting to make any statements about the later VAMPS disks, but I am
trying to set the record straight with respect to the ones I did evaluate.
Basically, you appear to be saying that unless I can prove in a court of
law beyond a shadow of a doubt, with evidence provided in triplicate, ASAP,
that the first VAMPS disks were a complete hoax, then, by SIMPLE logic, we
must assume that they were genuine. Huh? ... how old did you say you were?

What you call "back-fire" is what everyone else means by "flaming".
The other 1% is what the older usenet people call "trolling", like people
who pop in here and post "Apple sucks!! Buy a PC!!" every now and then.
