How many times in a row did you go through this sequence?

The problem is that every time you launch GS/OS again without
rebooting, many of the INITs, etc. will be loaded into memory a second
time. Some types of programs will be thrown out, but some will hang
around and may end up with multiple invocations in memory. In
particular, anything which patches itself into the system is likely to
have problems.

Apart from any other considerations, memory fragmentation will
probably get worse each time you enter GS/OS in this fashion.

Rebooting (via Ctrl-Apple-Reset) should clean things up again.
