Re: ADT for GS serial ports?

Hi guys,

Thanks for all this info. I just sent the guy a copy of what he needs
to get started. I don't currently have a GS hooked up to a PC or I'd try it
myself. My GS was recently diagnosed by someone right here with a bad IWM
chip. Wish I could easily get that replaced. I assume that's a custom part,
E.G. you ask an electronics tech guy about an IWM chip and he thinks you're
from another universe altogether? Would love to get my hands on a ROM 3
anyway, but haven't yet found one. Currently have my Enhanced IIe set up,
but no serial connection to my PC. Anyway, if we have any problems, I'll let
you guys know.

You're right, though - versions prior to 2006 didn't save from inside
the client. The BASIC configuration program BLOADed, modified, and
BSAVEd the ADT executable. If you used the config screen from inside
ADT itself, those changes weren't saved. That seemed redundant to me,
and required the two programs to be kept in sync. So I made the
config panel the single point of entry, and eliminated the BASIC bit.
And it had the unintended consequence of losing the ability to have
the Echo speak about it.
