Just keep the system in a dust (and preferably smoke) free environment.
 Don't try to plug/unplug stuff when the power is on.  Turn the monitor
off when away from the computer for a period of time to prolong the
monitor's life.  Apple II's are known for providing years of service
(my //e still works exactly like it did in '85).

We usually shorten their life span of our machines by not observing one
of the above.  It wouldn't hurt to clean the drive heads once in a
while, especially on a 20+ year old disk drive as well as check the
drive speed.
