Re: Getting files from a pc => mac => IIGS and/or a IIe

Success!

I had seen the jagshouse site but was unable to get any of the files -
I don't think they're available any longer ...

However! ... I found shrinkit1.1.sea.bin on the ground ftp mirror at
apple2.org.za and when I transferred that via the TransMac application
to the mac the bin ext disappeared. I then copied it to a prodos
formatted disk and tried it in the IIGS and it worked. Now, I could
have sworn I tried all and any combinations I could think of (including
this one) but perhaps not. I'm not sure what the significance of the
bin extension means and why that worked when others didn't but oh well
- it works. I'm going to try a few other things and see if I can't
figure it out - I'd definately like to know why - otherwise I haven't
learnt what I did right ... :)

In any case, that's installed now and all of a sudden things just work.
I've transferred over files and utilities ... all seems to be fine now
....

So ... i still can't get StuffIt on the Mac but it's no longer an issue
for what I want to do. In any case, that's not really a discussion for
this group. It was more a means to an end.

So thank you all for the help and suggestions and emails - it's all
appreciated.

Congratulations, Steve!

ShrinkIt GS is capable of dealing with resource forks, so that's
why everything is working smoothly. ;-)
