Hrmm.. Upgrade. Let me explain something of my current
situation that may enlighten you as to the status of recent Macs. I
just tagged Bernie to try it out and see what it is like. Looks
extremely useful to me so I'm going to buy it. My main machine is
a QuickSilver 733 so it should be more than enough to handle being
a file storage/exchange machine along with whatever other tasks
might come along. Oops. No floppy drive. Oops. No SCSI. Oops.
My IIGS doesn't have a card which will allow a CD to be read..
so the CD burner isn't an option. Oops. No serial cable so a
simple thing like null modem is out. USB and Firewire are not
going to be added soon to the IIgs so those are out as well.
Hrmm. This machine is supposed to be the pinnacle of innovation
for its time.. but it seems to be lacking *ANY* way to get these
files to a medium that the IIgs can use. Know what I'm going to
have to do? Use my Performa 6115CD which is perfectly capable
of doing such a mundane task.
Now, your contention is that had the Apple been just
as crippled.. er, upgraded, as the Mac it would be so much
better off. Erm, no. The problem lies with the corporate
philosophy being vastly different.. otherwise the above
situation would *NEVER* happen.
