I wasn't the one who cited the Mac as "cutting edge" hardware. My
contention was that if Apple had supported the II the way they
supported the Mac that there would currently be Apple IIs running some
other processor than the 65816 and handling support for legacy software
via emulation. Apple II hardware is obsolete in the same way that Macs
of the same age are obsolete.

Note that I keep an SE/30 on my Ethernet network and I can easily
switch its Appletalk connection between Ethernet and Localtalk. My GS
connects to the SE/30 over LocalTalk when I need it to, and both of
them (along with everything else I own) can print to my LaserWriter
IIg.

As for your disapproval of the current Macs inability to easily connect
with the IIgs, all I can say is "oh well".

(Last month I gave a 6115 to a 10 year old. Right now I am preparing a
6200 for an 8 year old, that's about what they are good for.)
