From a posting of mine in 1998:

As far as the SIMMs go: parity is irrelevant, the SIMMs must support
RAS-before-CAS refresh, and some hybrid types may not work.  The speed
should be 120 ns or faster.  The safest bet is to use SIMMs that are
known to work in a Mac Plus or SE.

I did my last set of SIMM swaps to determine the faulty SIMM, and then
I tracked down a copy of Bitbanger and let it do its thing. Wouldn't
you know it -- neither test shows any bad RAM any more. Sigh. But
good. And I can now copy tons of files between folders again.


That result is consistent with Bill's suggestion that cleaning the
contacts by re-seating card and SIMMs would help.

It's also consistent with a change in temperature or voltage and
a marginal SIMM.  ;-(
